With Halloween right around the corner, it’s about time to start stocking up on candy for all of the kids that will be knocking on your door. And if you don’t plan on giving out candy to these little minions, then shame on you. If this is your first year giving out sweets, you’ve come to the right place. In this segment, we’ll be going over the top 3 “trick” candies that some knuckleheads think that kids like, and the top 3 “treat” candies, which are sure to make your house a neighborhood staple for trick-or-treaters. Let’s start with the tricks…
3. Hard Grandma Candies
No one knows what they are or where they came from, but they are sure to be found on your grandma’s living room table. Tell granny to keep these out of the plastic cauldron from Party City this year, because no one’s coming to your house for these bad boys.
2. Candy Corn
We get it, it’s Halloween and these chewy pieces of sugar go along with the theme. But c’mon, have you ever actually eaten them, or hoped that the next house was going to pour a bucket of them into your pillow case? Didn’t think so.
1. Necco Wafers
Do you enjoy putting bitter circles of chalk in your mouth? Then Necco wafers are for you! If you’re like the other 7.53 billion people on this earth, you would probably rather visit your grandma at her 65+ condo and eat her hard candies. Not much more to say about these things than simply do not buy them. Kids will hate you. Luckily though, you do not even have the option to buy them anymore, as the 170-year-old institution that used to make them has recently shut down for good.
Time for the treats…
3. Air Heads
These taffy treats are hands down the best non-chocolate candy. A stretchy texture combined with a sour kick makes them irresistible. Plus, they dye your tongue whatever color you eat, which is always a good time.
A staple in the candy industry. The trifecta of chocolate, caramel, and peanuts create an explosion of flavor and texture in your mouth. Also, since it’s Halloween, they have to be the mini snickers. Don’t be givin’ out the full bars. I don’t know what it is, but the mini snickers somehow taste better than the full bars.
1. Reese’s Cups
The king of candy. Chocolate and peanut butter is the ultimate combo in the world of sweets. They complement each other like salt and pepper. Also, like Snickers, the mini ones are the way to go. They’re poppable, delectable, and overall delicious. If there is one candy you need to have in your candy basket this year, it’s gotta be Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
